What sets the 30 cm round cast iron Yellowstone Lodge skillet apart
- Solid construction. The skillet is made entirely from cast iron, with no non‑stick coating, free from PFOA or toxic elements. This robustness allows you to use any cooking utensil, even stainless steel.
- Ease of handling. Despite being a robust pan, its design is intended to be easy to handle. The short, ergonomic handle allows comfortable use and is ideal both for oven use and optimised storage.
- Longevity. The pan is cast in one single piece of iron, so it will last a lifetime.
- Outstanding value and durability. These are affordable pieces with exceptional durability and unquestionable quality.
- Textured finish. Lodge casts all their skillets in unique sand molds, which gives them a slightly rough texture inside and out; each piece is unique and unrepeatable. With use it builds a patina that results in a smooth, naturally non‑stick surface.
- Factory‑seasoned finish. All Lodge cast iron pieces are seasoned in the factory so that when you receive them they are ready to use. The seasoning process binds a coat of vegetable oil to the iron at high temperature, producing the classic black patina and protecting against rust.
- Excellent non‑stick properties. Lodge cookware provides natural non‑stick performance, even when cooking with little oil. Over time they become even more non‑stick.
- Great heat retention and even distribution. Because it is iron, it retains heat excellently for longer and distributes it evenly. The high temperatures seal in the juices of food, preserving all flavour. The result is more delicious, like traditional flavours.
- Versatility. Lodge pieces are suitable for all types of cooktops – gas, ceramic, electric, induction, wood stoves, barbecue and oven alike.
- Pouring spouts. The traditional skillet design includes two pouring spouts on either side, making it easier to pour sauces, pasta, stews or even soups without drips.
- The over 125 years of experience of Lodge in crafting cast iron pieces. Founded in 1896, Lodge remains an iconic brand in the USA, manufacturing all its cast iron products at its foundries in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
When you want to use it, simply preheat gradually so heat spreads evenly through the piece, and begin cooking once it is very hot. For cleaning: allow it to cool first; wash with a sponge and non‑abrasive detergent, and lightly oil the inner surface to prevent rust. For optimal care, store it in a dry place.
Remember that the pan is iron and is made in one piece, so both the handle and body will heat. With the Lodge silicone handle protector and the Lodge silicone pot handles, you can handle it safely without burning yourself.
NOTE: The factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic appearance with certain imperfections, such as faint brown marks on the edge, handle or body. Do not worry! These are small spots where the oil has not bonded fully with the iron; you can use your piece without issues. They are not defects or rust and disappear with regular use and care.
