The Set of 12 Kilner® Vacuum Sealing Discs is a pack that includes 12 flat, gold-colored metal lids with a rubber seal for Kilner® jars. These single-use discs are the necessary replacement parts for vacuum sealing your preserves in Kilner® glass jars.

The lids for Kilner® preserving jars are made up of two parts:

  • The sealing disc. This is a flat, single-use metal disc with a rubber seal that ensures proper sealing and preservation of food. The rubber seal on the Kilner® preserving jar sealing discs allows air to escape from the jar during boiling, creating a vacuum and adhering to the glass. The center of the disc drops, correctly securing the vacuum for a long time.
  • The screw band. This is the part that closes the jar and holds the disc in place, pressurizing and tightening it when creating the vacuum. This band can be used up to 10 times.

The Set of 12 Kilner® Vacuum Sealing Discs is only suitable for use with Kilner® Preserving Jars and includes only 12 replacement flat discs, one of the two parts of the lid. If you wish to purchase the screw bands to have the complete lid, you can find the set of 6 units here.

If you use Kilner® jars to store your homemade preserves, you will need to replace the metal disc with a new one so that each new preserve you make is as safe as the last. Once the jar is opened, the disc rises and is suitable for keeping the jar closed, but it is not suitable for vacuum sealing again.

The discs in the set of 12 units have a diameter of 6.8 mm and are suitable for use with the following jars:

  • 250 ml
  • 500 ml
  • 1 liter

They are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand.

Why we like the Set of 12 Kilner® Vacuum Sealing Discs

  1. The discs guarantee proper sealing and vacuum for your preserves.
  2. They feature a rubber seal to adhere to the jar opening when creating the vacuum.
  3. They are single-use for each new preserve.
  4. In addition to preserves, you can use them with the band as a lid for Kilner® jars or bottles.
