Storing fruits and vegetables in plastic bags restricts air circulation, causes these delicate foods to stick to the plastic and build up condensation, creating perfect conditions for rotting. Fruits and vegetables require the perfect level of humidity to keep them fresh and from wilting. In addition, each type of food requires a different level of humidity to stay fresh, which makes things even more complicated.
